CryptClient™ Digital-ID Personal SSL Certificates —

What Is It
Why Do I Want One and How Does It Protect Me
Just as in the real world, where a driver's license or passport is used to verify our identity, in the online world a digital certificate is used to verify our identity as we bank, shop, and exchange information online with others.

CryptClient™ Digital-ID Certificates provide privacy, security, encryption, and identity assurance to protect the user's email communications and data files, and provide secure information exchanges between the user's web browser or email program, and commercial, healthcare, or other websites.

CryptGuard CryptClient™ certificates are premium, industry-standard, X509v3 digital certificates, enabling high-grade, ultra-secure, 128-bit/256-bit-encryption for all-inclusive commercial and personal use.

There are three main reasons for making use of personal digital certificates:
identity verification security privacy

Identity Verification
Whether it's your family, your bank, the friends you chat with online, your educational institution or your favorite on-line store such as Ebay, Amazon or Paypal, you need to know that the person you're communicating with is indeed who you think it is, and that the documents or information you're exchanging are protected against tampering and eavesdropping. This is what digital certificates from CryptGuard can help ensure.

Business has been using this technology for years to protect commercial communications. Digital certificates used by eCommerce websites enable users to securely send their personal or credit card information to the website to enable online purchases and other transactions.

Personal digital certificates provide that same confidentiality, security, and trust to the general public for all of their private communications.

Protection Against Tampering
Using digital certificates is a lot like shrinkwrapping a letter - once it's sealed, if someone tampers with it, it's easy to detect the torn shrinkwrapping. In the case of an email, if someone intercepts and changes the contents of the email, the moment the message is altered it breaks the digital signature.

Protection Against Eavesdropping
Unencrypted emails are like post-cards, readable by everyone. When using digital certificates to encrypt the email, it's like the letter is sealed inside a lockbox, encased in a block of cement, and transported in an armoured truck.

Special Protection For Minors Against Online Predators
When your son or daughter is chatting online, how do they know that the person they're talking to is really who they claim to be? Personal Digital Certificates can be used to validate the true identity of everyone/anyone they communicate with.

CryptGuard is the only Certification Authority currently offering a 5-year personal digital certificate.

  • When you obtain a driver's license, it is usually valid for 5 years. When you are issued a passport, it too is usually valid for 5 years. So when you apply for a personal certificate - which is digital identification - it makes sense that it should also be valid for 5 years.

  • CryptGuard offers several term packages as we recognize that each individual has their own unique needs and requirements. Certificate license validity periods of 1, 2, 3, and 5 years are offered, making truly-affordable and effective personal online security available to everyone.

Certificates may be used with email clients (eg: Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora), web browsers (eg: Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape), instant messaging clients (eg: AOL, Jabber), and PayPal's "Encrypted Website Payments" system.

CryptGuard offers FREE replacement for the duration of the license, in the event your certificate is ever lost, stolen, or destroyed.
